Install Zerosum

Zerosum runs on your phone, tablet, and computer. On iPhone, download it from the App Store. On Android, Mac, and Windows, install it straight from your browser as a Progressive Web App (PWA), which puts Zerosum on your home screen or dock in its own full-screen window.

iPhone (App Store)

The iPhone app is a free download. Sign in with the account you already use and your budget is right there.

What the iPhone app adds on top of the browser version:

• Face ID unlock: keep your budget private if someone else picks up your phone.
• Native Apple and Google sign-in: one tap with the sign-in sheet built into iOS, no code to type.
• Push notifications: get a nudge when transactions are waiting for review, whether they arrived from bank sync or from a scheduled template.
• One tap from the home screen: no browser, no tabs.

Requires iOS 15 or later.

ℹ️ Note: There is no Android app yet. On Android, install Zerosum from your browser using the steps below.

iPhone (install from Safari)

If you would rather not use the App Store, you can still install Zerosum from Safari as a home-screen app.

ℹ️ Note: Every browser install below starts at app.zerosum.so (where you sign in and use Zerosum), not the marketing site. Open it there first, then follow the steps for your device.

1. Open Zerosum in Safari. Go to app.zerosum.so.
2. Tap the Share button at the bottom of the screen (the square with an arrow).
3. Tap "Add to Home Screen" after scrolling down in the share sheet.
4. Tap "Add". Zerosum appears on your home screen and opens in full screen.

Android

Install using Chrome, Firefox, or Samsung Internet.

Chrome

1. Open Zerosum in Chrome. Go to app.zerosum.so.
2. Tap the menu (three dots, top-right).
3. Tap "Install app" or "Add to Home screen".
4. Confirm. Tap "Install" to add Zerosum to your home screen and app drawer.

Firefox

1. Open Zerosum in Firefox. Go to app.zerosum.so.
2. Tap the menu (three dots, bottom-right).
3. Tap "Install" to add Zerosum as an app.

Samsung Internet

1. Open Zerosum. Go to app.zerosum.so.
2. Tap the menu (hamburger icon at the bottom of the screen).
3. Tap "Add page to" then "Home screen".

Mac

Install using Chrome, Edge, or Safari.

Chrome or Edge

1. Open Zerosum. Go to app.zerosum.so in Chrome or Edge.
2. Click the install icon in the address bar, or use the menu and choose "Install Zerosum".
3. Click "Install". Zerosum opens in its own window and appears in your Dock and Applications folder.

Safari (macOS Sonoma or later)

1. Open Zerosum. Go to app.zerosum.so in Safari.
2. Click File, then "Add to Dock" from the menu bar.
3. Click "Add". Zerosum appears in your Dock and opens like any other app.

Windows

Install using Chrome or Edge. Firefox on desktop does not support PWA installation.

Chrome

1. Open Zerosum. Go to app.zerosum.so in Chrome.
2. Click the install icon in the address bar, or use the menu and choose "Save and share" then "Install Zerosum".
3. Click "Install". Zerosum opens in its own window and appears in your Start menu.

Edge

1. Open Zerosum. Go to app.zerosum.so in Edge.
2. Click the "App available" icon in the address bar, or use the menu and choose "Apps" then "Install Zerosum".
3. Click "Install". Zerosum opens in its own window and appears in your Start menu.

Why install?

• Quick access: launch from your home screen or dock with one tap.
• Full screen: no browser controls, so more space for budgeting.
• Straight to your budget: the installed app opens right on your budget, no tab-hunting.
• Auto updates: browser installs update themselves, and the iPhone app updates through the App Store.

Does Zerosum work offline?

Not yet. Zerosum needs an internet connection, so opening the app without one shows a "You're offline" screen instead of your budget. Nothing is lost: your data lives safely on our servers, and the app picks up right where you left off once you are back online.
